Our Christmas job opportunities for 2022 will be open for applications from early September. You’ll only need to make one application per branch to be considered for our Sales, Stock and Catering Assistant opportunities. You’ll also need to create an account with us to start your application.
In our Partners, we look for those who are passionate about giving great customer service and are always willing to go one step beyond. Christmas time is fast-paced and dynamic for retail, so you’ll enjoy a variety of tasks whilst working as part of a supportive team.
If successful you’ll be offered a contract which may include weekend, early morning and late night working. You may also have the chance to increase your hours, particularly in the weeks leading up to Christmas. As a seasonal temporary Partner, we’ll expect you to be flexible at your branch during our peak trading period.
All Partners who join us for Christmas (4th October- 31st December) will be entitled to free meals while working their shifts. Each branch has it’s own Partner Dining room where a selections of hot and cold food and beverages are available.
As a Retail Sales Assistant, you’ll be responsible for making sure our customers find what they are looking for. Whether it’s the perfect gift for a loved one or a new TV to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks, you’ll offer assistance and guide our customers throughout the buyer’s journey.
Will I suit this temporary job role?
We’ll expect you to have a natural ability for selling and customer service. You should also be warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about our range of products.

In this seasonal role you’ll keep our shelves full, ensuring our customers can grab what they need with no difficulties. Products need to be replenished daily, so you’ll play a key role in maintaining the high quality of customer service in your store.

You should be comfortable using stock management systems, able to work both independently and in a team, and have an approachable manner.

We’re very lucky in some of shops that our two treasured brands come together. Waitrose & Partners Foodhalls are small versions of our core stores and are situated inside a John Lewis & Partners shop. We’ll be recruiting for Foodhall Assistants in locations such as Oxford Street and Bluewater.

You can only apply for one Seasonal role per John Lewis & Partners shop. However, you will have the opportunity to express your interest in other Seasonal roles in the same shop if you are invited to attend an interview / assessment.

Recruiting for our Seasonal vacancies is a busy time for us in the Partnership. We’ll aim to let you know whether you have been successful or not within 2 weeks of your assessment date. Please regularly check your account on jlpjobs.com and your emails for updates.
This will vary between shops and the earliest start dates will be advertised on the vacancy. This would be discussed in more detail at the assessment centre.
At this stage, we do not know our future requirements and this will vary between shops. Should you start in a role with us, you can discuss this with your Line Manager.
Unfortunately, due to the volume of requests we receive we’re unable to provide specific feedback after assessment centres or interviews for our Seasonal vacancies.
