Christmas Jobs at the John Lewis Partnership

Partners make the difference

At the John Lewis Partnership, we’re more than employees – we’re owners. That’s why we’re called Partners.

It’s the shared responsibility we have as owners that makes it so very different from anywhere else over the busy festive season. From stock replenishment to selling and catering to customer support, everyone pulls together to ensure our customers feel our difference. We want them to leave knowing it will be the same next time and every time they interact with us.

Join us this Christmas and help make the difference. John Lewis & Partners shops will be recruiting for seasonal temporary Partners across the UK soon! We have opportunities for Retail Sales Assistants, Retail Stock Assistants, Retail Catering Assistants and Retail Foodhall Assistants to become a part of our Christmas family.

Waitrose & Partners will also be recruiting throughout the season for Supermarket Assistant roles. Register for job alerts today and we’ll email you when our application window opens.

Take a look at why our current Partners continue to enjoy Christmas at both John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose & Partners:

In our Partners, we look for those who are passionate about giving great customer service and are always willing to go one step beyond. Christmas time is fast-paced and dynamic for retail, so you’ll enjoy a variety of tasks whilst working as part of a supportive team.

If successful you’ll be offered a contract which may include weekend, early morning and late night working. You may also have the chance to increase your hours, particularly in the weeks leading up to Christmas. As a seasonal temporary Partner, we’ll expect you to be flexible at your branch during our peak trading period.

Christmas Jobs FAQs

Can I apply for more than one Seasonal vacancy in the same shop?

You can only apply for one Seasonal role per John Lewis & Partners shop. However, you will have the opportunity to express your interest in other Seasonal roles in the same shop if you are invited to attend an interview / assessment.

What is the recruitment process?

Once you have successfully completed the online testing you will be invited to complete an online application form. You will then be invited to an assessment centre if your application is successful at that stage.

I need support with my application. What should I do?

If you have a disability, learning difficulty, medical condition or an individual need which you believe may affect your performance in the application process, we’ll be happy to make adjustments to enable you to perform at your best. For more information, please click here.

When will I hear back if I attend an assessment centre?

Recruiting for our Seasonal vacancies is a busy time for us in the Partnership. We’ll aim to let you know whether you have been successful or not within 2 weeks of your assessment date. Please regularly check your account on and your emails for updates.

If I am successful when will I start?

This will vary between shops and the earliest start dates will be advertised on the vacancy. This would be discussed in more detail at the assessment centre.

Will there be any permanent opportunities available at the end?

At this stage, we do not know our future requirements and this will vary between shops. Should you start in a role with us, you can discuss this with your Line Manager.

My application has been unsuccessful, can I get some feedback?

Unfortunately, due to the volume of requests we receive we’re unable to provide specific feedback after assessment centres or interviews for our Seasonal vacancies.
