Catering Assistant Jobs

As a Catering Assistant, you’ll be the face of John Lewis and act as an ambassador for the brand. This means providing the outstanding service that we’re so well known for. We’ll expect you to take pride in the food that you prepare and have an excellent knowledge of safety and hygiene standards.

What will I do as a Catering Assistant?

We can offer a varied and exciting work environment, whether that’s preparing delicious meals in the kitchen or confidently advising our customers from behind the counter.

Within this role, you will:

  • Deliver market-leading service with a smile
  • Prepare and serve food to the highest standards
  • Build a rapport with customers so they come back again

Where will I work as a Catering Assistant?

You’ll typically be working in our Place to Eat restaurants which are in John Lewis stores throughout the UK. You could also work in our Partner Dining Room, where Partners receive their meals for free. Throughout peak periods, we may expect you to help prepare food at both the Partner Dining Room and front of house.

Will I suit this role?

You should have a passion for food, flavour, quality and delivering a superb dining experience. If you can create dishes that keep our customers coming back and are keen to work as part of a team, then you could flourish in our Catering department.

What training will I receive?

You’ll be given comprehensive training on food hygiene, health and safety, fire safety and how to safely use equipment within the kitchen. We encourage all our Partners to tap into their potential through training and development, so if you’re keen to build your skillset, we can facilitate this through additional support.
