About the role
As a Transport Operator, you'll be helping maintain the smooth, efficient running of our distribution network, ensuring productivity targets, agreed key customer service levels and KPIs are achieved within budget.
You’ll help manage the general transport office and support Partners within the Transport teams. When the Transport Section Manager is off duty, you’ll deputise in their absence.
In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 - 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at a rate of £0.00 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract a Night Premium at a rate of £0.00 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
Salary: £30,000 - £46,500

Working Pattern:
Responsible for managing Partnership and agency Drivers over 24 hours a day, 7 days a week transport operations. Maintaining full compliance under current EU driving regulations and the Working Time Directive. Ensuring achievement of productivity targets, agree key customer service levels and key performance indicators within cost targets. To ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to. To ensure Partners and agency drivers are treated fairly and with respect. To deputise for the Transport Section Manager in their absence.
Key Responsibilities
It's a fast paced and sometimes complex area to work in. Day-to-Day responsibilities will include:

Ensuring the health & safety of all those working in the transport team is top priority and the appropriate procedures are adhered to.

To brief and debrief Partnership and agency drivers at the start and end of their shift

Maintaining good housekeeping standards.

Liaise with warehouse teams to ensure on time load completion

Ensuring the operation and those working in it remain fully compliant under EU driving regulations and the Working Time Directive.

Effectively manage department resource and optimise the use of establishment hours, encouraging Partner flexibility to deliver efficient delivery of the Transport operation

Supporting the management team with their Partners and creating an environment for development.
Essential skills/experience you'll need

Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.

Excellent communication skills

Previous Supply Chain experience

Previous transport experience

High degree of attention to detail and accuracy
Desirable skills/experience you may have

Good working knowledge of IT systems (email/Google programmes/Paragon)

Manager CPC qualification

Familiar with vehicle telematics systems, preferably Microlise

Familiar with transport planning and execution system preferably Microlise or Paragon

Familiar with transport compliance software particularly FTA vision

Familiarity with fleet management software particularly JAMA
