About the role

As the Delivery and Operations Manager for Cloud Platforms you will be the accountable owner for the Partnerships Google Cloud Platforms (GCP) You will oversee the provision of secure, performant and cost-effective technical solutions to meet business needs. You will facilitate the ongoing migration of infrastructure components to public cloud (GCP), and simplify & rationalise technologies within the area. You will establish and maintain operational excellence across the Partnership Cloud Ecosystem (PCE) leading a mixture of Partners, multiple service providers and stakeholders.

In your role, working alongside Architecture and Principle Product colleagues you will define the vision for our cloud platforms and prioritise work, providing expertise to support business outcomes and leading platform engineering teams.

  • Salary  - £75,000 - £140,000.  

  • Contract type  - This position is a Permanent contract.

  • Working pattern/flexible working) - The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. 

  • Location - This role is based at our Bracknell/Pimlico Head Office.

As the Delivery and Operations Manager for Cloud Platforms, with Product and Architecture you will own the decisions for:

  • Leading the shaping and delivery of our Cloud Platform strategy

  • Managing the ongoing relationship with our strategic vendors including Google

  • Being the ultimate point of escalation for your technology tower

  • Implementing Operational Excellence

  • Driving the adoption of DevSecOps best practices

  • Providing the technical direction and oversight of our Google cloud platforms

  • Driving automation and cost efficiency across our Cloud platforms

  • Mentoring and inspiring a diverse team of Product owners and Platform Engineers, creating a world class team

You will also have key input into decisions on cost management and consumption, working alongside our FinOps team. You will shape and implement policy alongside Security Operations. You will work closely with the other Infrastructure areas and interface with the established Product & Platform teams to embed capability within areas.

Essential skills/experience you’ll need

  • A proven track record of leading delivery of technology transformations and large scale migrations to public cloud

  • Experience of leading IT Delivery in a lean and agile environment, motivating technical engineering teams to deliver success

  • Technical expertise and experience in key technologies as defined below

  • Demonstrable experience in leading managed services / high-value third-party contracts

  • Working knowledge of agile methodologies & DevSecOps frameworks

  • Outstanding communication skills that go beyond “tech talk” – the ability to translate complex IT matters to those without an IT background

  • A credible and established expert with good commercial and operational acumen, who is able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in building strong relationships, including third parties.

  • A strong ability to lead cross functional teams and influence

Desirable skills/experience you may have

  • Experience gained in a Retail IT environment

  • Containerisation experience
