
About the role
This is an exciting time to join our Estate Planning team, as Waitrose looks to open new shops and relocate existing in service of our Partnership Estate strategy. As a Location Planning and Assessment Manager, you will support the estate assessment and identify areas for new growth, utilising your own initiative, judgement and recommendations. In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract Night Premium at a rate of £5.00 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
- Expected Salary: £46,500 - £63,000 per annum
- Contract type: This position is a temporary contract with an expected end date of 03/01/2027.
- Working pattern/flexible working: This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and the Head Office. Additionally, regular site visits will be required nationwide.
- Location: This role can be based in Bracknell or London.
Please note: A full UK driving license is required to fulfil the travel requirements of the role.
Key responsibilities:
- Recommending sales forecasts for new store locations identified by our Property Acquisitions Managers
- Managing forecasting tools and external suppliers to develop necessary tools, setting briefs, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
- Collaborating with finance, customer, and real estate teams to review the performance of new space openings, analysing reasons for over and under performance.
- Using insights from performance reviews to suggest improvements to the opening process, forecasting, and propositions.
- Contributing to strategic business projects with spatial considerations, providing clear recommendations through analytical techniques.
- Evaluating the impact of online growth on physical estate sales forecasting.
Essential skills you’ll need
- Catchment analysis and location planning experience in a retail environment
- Use of GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
- Advanced Excel skills to undertake financial analysis
- Good communication skills- will be preparing and delivering presentations
- Project Management experience
- Ability to influence upwardly stakeholders
- Full UK driving license
Desirable skills/experience you may have
- Experience of grocery opening programmes in the convenience sector
- Experience defining and continually updating target locations for retailer
