
About the role
Are you a qualified and experienced building trade professional looking for a dynamic role within a cutting-edge network engineering team? We're seeking a Maintenance Specialist to bring your expertise to life, delivering a wide range of planned, reactive, remedial, and project tasks across our diverse building portfolio.
You'll be instrumental in maintaining our building fabric and driving value-added
improvements, directly contributing to the smooth operation of our increasingly automated and manual environments. Collaborating with campus engineering technicians, you'll leverage your deep understanding of branch plant and equipment to ensure their optimal performance.
This is a pivotal role within our Primary Distribution network, the engine behind c.75% of our 24/7 e-commerce business. Your timely delivery of projects, services, and materials is crucial to maintaining the safety, compliance, and reliability of our buildings, directly impacting our success.
If you join us from 5th October 2025, in addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 - 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at a rate of £3.00 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract a Night Premium at a rate of £4.00 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
● Salary - £31,600 - £49,800
● Contract type - This position is a permanent contract.
● Location - This role is based across our Magna Park and Fenny Lock National
Distribution Centres.
● Working hours - This role is for 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm.
● Please note, internally this role is known as 'Engineering Trade Specialist'.
Key responsibilities
● Internal delivery of specialised maintenance, change and project work, reducing/eliminating external contractor dependence in a 24-hour environment where SLA is often business-critical.
● Demonstrating an understanding of branch plant and equipment and assisting in maintaining its operation.
● Achieving first-fix on building fabric, fixtures and equipment, supporting the
Engineering Technician team, demonstrating the following skillsets:
- Articulate in design and planning, specification setting and project
delivery in a CDM-governed environment.
- Action change-work in the branch to meet operational demands - ensuring time schedules are met.
- Understand and use the IT Systems to action and facilitate work.
- Maintain effective communication links with Engineering Shift Managers
and project coordinators.
- Resolve operational issues promptly, courteously and effectively.
● Contribute to a safe working environment demonstrating subject knowledge relating to legislative and health and safety requirements within the workplace.
● Consistently carrying out safe practice in line with risk assessments, method
statements and safe systems of work.
Essential skills/experience you’ll need
● Strong vocational background with proven construction / engineering experience.
● A comprehensive understanding of Health & Safety legislation in a comme cial and industrial environment.
Desirable skills/experience you may have
● Apprenticeship-served (CITB, CGLI or equivalent).
● CSCS accreditation.
● IPAF & PASMA, Working at Height trained.
● First-Aid qualified.
● IOSH / NEBOSH.
