These Partners are from all different areas of the business and with that, comes their own unique experiences and stories. Stories they wanted to share with you.

John’s Story

I joined the Partnership five years ago after seeing an ad for my dream job of Nursery (Plant) Specialist at Longstock Park Nursery. There has always been a strong brand loyalty in my family and I remember shopping with my mum in Waitrose, Romsey as well as what seemed like endless expeditions to the old John Lewis Tyrell and Green in Southampton.

I was horticulturally trained but had lost touch with what I really loved doing, which is what inevitably happens when you progress up the managerial ladder. Having seen the ad, I applied, but missed the cut off date by one day. After returning from holiday, I saw that it had been re-advertised and the rest, as they say, is history.

When asked why I had applied for the job, I replied “Because I don’t want to be a manager any more and want to reacquaint myself with gardening and horticulture.”

I work in a corner of the Leckford estate in Hampshire, one of the most beautiful and historic sites within the Partnership. A  stone’s throw from Longstock House, Spedan Lewis’s home and Longstock Water Gardens and I enjoy every minute.

Having worked for different employers during my career, I recognise the benefits of being a Partner.
