Distribution and Warehouse Jobs

Distribution is about getting the right stock, to the right place, at the right time. In a company the size of ours it’s no mean feat, but join our distribution operation and you’ll be helping to put the smiles on our customers’ faces all over the country.

John Lewis Distribution is separated into two main environments. These are our National Distribution Centres (NDCs) which are large operations that distribute to our whole business. Stock is received into the business from suppliers, held and then distributed either directly to our shops or to our smaller, Customer Delivery Hubs.

Our Customer Delivery Hubs (CDHs) are smaller operations that distribute locally to shops or directly into our customers’ homes. Stock is received from the NDCs which is then passed on locally.

The backbone to our distribution network is our warehouses. We have seven warehouses across the country, including our state-of-the-art semi-automated warehouse at the Magna Park Campus near Milton Keynes. This has recently expanded and now occupies over 1 million square feet. Here we deliver household, fashion and electronic goods to our customers, as well as our stores, sending out smaller items from our vast array of brands.
