About the role
We have an exciting opportunity available to join us as a Chef, working in our John Lewis Distribution Centre in Origin Park, London.
As a Chef, you’ll work alongside our enthusiastic catering team, providing nutritious, delicious meals for our Partners to enjoy whilst maintaining the highest possible kitchen standards.
In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 - 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at a rate of £0.00 per hour, and any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract a Night Premium at a rate of £0.00 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
Key Responsibilities

Apply the John Lewis food safety policies and procedures which include all legislation applicable to the Catering operation.

Understanding the Food Safety management system- Food Safety policy and COSHH chemical handling.

Using our food monitoring systems to take food and delivery temperatures.

Oversee the opening, closing and daily running of the operation.

Prepare, serve and present food to a high standard.

Flexible to work across all areas of the operation including cleaning, stock control/ordering, putting deliveries away, counter service and shift close down.

Menu creation using fresh ingredients.

Cover all aspects of cooking.

Supporting Hospitality Catering Assistants & Apprentices.

Responsible for the kitchen when the Sous Chef is not on site.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications you’ll need:
-
Level 2 Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.

Professional Cookery NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds 706 1 & 2 or equivalent.

Operational experience in a professional kitchen environment.
Desirable Skills, Experience and Qualifications you could bring:

Level 3 Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (or working towards).

Culinary Skills or equivalent NVQ Level 2 & 3.

Pastry chef skills.
Additional Information:

Full site and induction training from Day 1.

The successful candidate will be put through online training Food Safety Level 2 within 3 months and Food Safety Level 3 straight after, both of these will be mandatory once in the role.
