I have been a Partner for over 10 years. I currently work with the Facilities Team in Bracknell. I love the variety of the role and the fact that we support so many different parts of the business.

We help to make sure our Head Office runs smoothly for all the Partners who use it. I am also passionate about our unique democracy and the way the Partnership looks after us all. I am proud to call myself a Partner.

Being part of Property Services offers fantastic exposure across the Partnership’s Estate. You’re surrounded by a wealth of experience and knowledge, where you can build relationships and develop your career. In 3 years, I’ve grown from installing plug sockets to managing roof replacement projects, flooring refurbishments and ANPR installations – with a great team around to support.

In 2021, I transferred over to the role in Head Office after working in my local Waitrose branch for 7 years. At the start, I felt the change was going to be too challenging to pursue a long term career in an office role with limited experience. However since day 1, the team has been very supportive to give me the platform to make mistakes and grow on the job. This is something that I do not take for granted and use it as a motivator to deliver on expectations.

I feel as a team we embody the partnership values, particularly ‘in this together’ and ‘continuous improvement’ which makes the job enjoyable at the toughest of times and allows us to deliver on positive change in how waste or ‘resource’ is managed to achieve the best environmental outcome to pursue our long term S&E goals.

Over 15 years I’ve had the privilege to work for, in my opinion, the country’s top retailer. In the estate management field we specialise in taking a laser-like focus to all forms of property cost which after Partners salaries is the largest expense for our business.

Accordingly we challenge rates, service charges in multi let buildings and negotiate hard with our landlords to minimise rent whenever possible. Additionally we seek out opportunities to drive value from our valuable property assets. The Partnership has rightly an enviable reputation for good reason so well worth considering joining.

I’m proud to be part of the Network Engineering team at John Lewis Distribution, supporting our 24/7 automated fulfilment centres. Our team keeps things running smoothly, maintaining over 5 million sq ft of warehouse space. We have a talented team of 80+ engineers dedicated to ensuring our distribution network operates at peak performance.

We’re also passionate about developing the next generation of engineers through our apprenticeship programme. We work with local colleges to provide formal training, giving apprentices the skills to become qualified electricians and technicians. It’s rewarding to see them grow and contribute. We manage automation contracts, support change programmes, and provide technical expertise to optimise our distribution network. It’s a dynamic environment where we’re constantly innovating.
