Point of Sale solutions are at the heart of our Retail and Payments projects and we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Development Lead to join our Technical Community with a focus on this domain.

As a technical leader you will have a passion for software development and an excellent understanding of how to define and deliver solutions collaboratively. You will be involved in all areas of delivery, with the technical gravitas to mentor and inspire the development team; playing an integral part in helping them continuously improve by sharing your own knowledge, experience and insights.

You will be confident in challenging architectural solutions and business requirements to ensure you are continuously delivering the best possible outcome, harnessing innovation and driving adoption of new technologies to deliver value.

Job Requirements

Act as the primary technical point of contact for all development and design activities,
Oversee the successful interaction between newly-introduced technologies and legacy systems in delivering the solution
Agree and approve the development approach, standards and deliverables from all teams (internal and 3rd party) contributing to project technical delivery.
Partner with the architecture team, to ensure the most appropriate overall solution is achieved from a data, infrastructure, security, application
Be accountable for delivery of the development project plan as represented in the overall project plan
Where applicable provide technical governance for 3rd party development plans
Assess and actively manage in-scope technical risks and issues to ensure the project has a high probability of successful delivery
Take accountability for project technical debt arising from any de-scoping or strategic alignment of the solution within implementation goals
Ensure Low Level Design activities are in line with overarching architectural guidelines
As far as possible enforce the adoption of existing technology provided by vendor products

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

Development background in a variety of different technologies
Strong motivational and interpersonal skills, driving progress through the teams in the capacity as Technical Lead
Previous experience of project technical lead role on complex system integration
Domain expertise - POS, eCommerce, MDM, BI, SOA etc. - understanding the many and various application components, and how they interact with each other
Strong and demonstrated management of third parties
Able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels
Understand the non-functional aspects of the platform, including how the infrastructure impacts load and performance, and the likely bottleneck

Working knowledge and/or understanding of:
Enterprise POS platforms
Enterprise offer (promotion) management solutions
Private Cloud deployments
Continuous Development/Continuous Integration methodologies
Networks and Security (Load balancing, firewall configuration, security zoning and data protection)
Application monitoring and alerting
Application deployment and configuration management
