At a glance

  • Flexible working - This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and the Bracknell Head Office. However, there will also be an expectation to visit other locations as the need arises

  • Salary range - £39,400 - £59,000

About the role:

You will work closely with the Supply Chain Development Manager and provide analytical support driving insights to support the Supply Chain strategic planning capability for Waitrose. 

You will 

  • have a deep understanding and appreciation of the overall supply chain plan and be involved in the design of the future network

  • work with various teams across the business to develop the supply chain plan, and make recommendations on investment required in future years to deliver an optimised supply chain

  • work closely with various teams to understand the business’ growth ambitions and propositional change, determining potential impacts on the supply chain

  • identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks in the supply chain, then propose and shape solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance

  • collaborate with the supply chain operations team to identify improvement opportunities within 3PLs 

  • work closely with our fleet and transportation, warehousing, and distribution teams to identify opportunities to minimise lead times and improve delivery reliability

  • work closely with the Ethics and Sustainability teams to identify opportunities for improvement to achieve our net zero carbon footprint ambitions

  • interpret data and produce reports to support strategic decision making for the respective stakeholders.

What you will do

You will be providing analytical support in the long term horizon planning (2- 5 years), and additionally you will: 

  • Provide insights for the development of the long term network strategy design and automation strategy design for Partner-run and 3PLs sites

  • Understand the impacts of the long-term network design and automation strategy on property, people capability and supply chain systems development

  • Provide analytical support with the long term network capacity forecasting model, maintaining and developing the model as required

  • Provide analytical support to develop the long term strategic commercial and financial inputs and assumptions, working across directorates to gather and review on a regular basis

  • Support the Supply Chain Strategic Planning & Development Lead & Manager with analytics to inform investment plans in both maintaining the as-is operation and the strategic transformation of the network 

  • Provide analytical support to build an understanding of core Supply Chain KPIs at a high level

  • Provide analytical support to any specialist third party consultancies where required

In the shorter term horizon planning (12-18 months), you will be accountable for:

  • Providing analytical support and business case support to the ongoing management of the Supply Chain Portfolio backlog (pre and post business planning).

Essential Skills

  • Experience in data analysis and driving insight to inform decision making 

  • Experience in designing network strategy in large, complex retailers

  • Proven track record of delivery and data-driven decision-making

  • Supporting the planning and development of strategic change

  • Supporting the development of long term plans and forecasts

  • Working with large, complex cross-functional teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Worked in a consultancy role or worked closely with strategy consultants

  • Worked in a 3PL provider

  • Experience in large scale IT implementations

  • Experience in leading people through change in retail organisations.
