Duties & Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sourcing Manager to join the team at our John Lewis Head Office in London on a permanent basis.

The desired candidate will be known for driving a step change in quality, value and service through identifying and managing the implementation of improved sourcing solutions for key product categories.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities would include:

- Owns and develops the product sourcing strategy for their defined product area. Ensures that it is fully aligned with divisional priorities. Identifies tactical quick-wins as well as longer term development opportunities.
- Advises Buying on the key opportunities to deliver a step change in quality, value or service in key product categories, drawing on expert knowledge of source industries. Gathers and analyses relevant information to compile an objective assessment of alternative sources, including costing and risk of different routes and supplier capability and fit.
- Develops plans to realise improvements in the way products are sourced, proactively working with Buying to prioritise opportunities for maximum benefit. Leads the implementation of the projects, ensuring that Buying are supported in implementing changes to their sourcing arrangements. Instigates comprehensive post change reviews and carries out benefits analysis.
- Builds effective relationships and communicates regularly with key internal and external stakeholders such as Heads of Buying, Account Managers and Sales Directors. Ensures product sourcing plans are fully aligned with all other key stakeholders across the business. Uses knowledge and experience to influence the successful execution of plans. Works effectively with third party suppliers to achieve the best possible sustainable level of quality, value and service which is attractive to both parties.
- Builds and records knowledge in source industries for key product categories. Applies industry knowledge and understanding of customer requirements to identify best-fit sources for John Lewis. Complies with responsible sourcing, due diligence and product safety requirements so as to realise the Partnership's Corporate Social Responsibility.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Proven experience of working in or with either manufacturing, supply, retail consumer goods or services.
- Experience and Understanding of working with Home and/or Fashion.
- Experience of working as either a Buyer or Sourcing Manager.
- Relationship Building
