What's the role about?
We are reinventing our business for the modern retail world. Our Strategy area for the Partnership will ensure that all of our customer data and insights are used to define where we’ll play, how we’ll win and what we prioritise to ensure that the strategic direction of our business is clear and unambiguous. We are looking for a Senior Analyst who can work across teams, is self motivated and strives for continuous improvement.
The core of this role is to help the Partnership make insight-driven, better informed, customer-centric decisions. In order to do this, you will need to work closely with teams across the Partnership, getting close to their world; hearing their problems and spotting the opportunities to improve things through a better understanding of the customer. You will use your analytical mindset and knowledge of the customer to improve the speed and quality of decision making.

What will you be doing?
We have several roles available across John Lewis and Waitrose Digital, specialising in Strategy and Trade
You will be working with teams from across the online business, including senior leadership teams, product, trading and marketing to help them understand what their business challenges are. You will come up with actionable customer-focussed insights to help teams address these challenges. Presenting these findings to the teams to help them formulate successful solutions. You will work with a variety of tools, such as Google BigQuery, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Snowflake, Tableau, Google Sheets, Excel, Google Data Studio and more. Existing knowledge of these will be helpful in the role.
You will help size proposed product changes, and evaluate their impact on the business once implemented. You’ll also design KPIs that help product owners understand how different parts of the online business are performing, and to then visualise these using dashboards where appropriate.
You will work with a variety of tools, such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Google BigQuery, Google Data Studio, Tableau, Monetate, Firebase and more. Existing knowledge of these will be helpful in the role.

What you'll already have:
• Some experience of working as a data or product analyst, ideally at a retailer or e-commerce business
• Understanding of the key drivers of trade & experience delivering insight on how to improve performance of commercial levers
• Proficient in SQL
• Familiarity with Python or R preferred
• Experience of using Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics
• Basic knowledge of relevant statistical techniques
• Experience of data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Google Data Studio
• Experience of synthesising complex and ambiguous information in order to drive actionable insight brought to life through communication and visualisation
What else you could bring:
An innate curiosity about how customers engage with, and shop, retail
Technical skill, knowledge and experience in the use of Big Data
Experience with online sales forecasting & budgeting
