This role can be based in either London Victoria or Bracknell but there would be travel required between the two locations. Flexible working is welcomed and encouraged. Duties & Responsibilities

Our Data Science team generate value for our business, through the delivery of innovative and robust statistical algorithms and tools across both John Lewis and Waitrose.

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our growing team, located in Victoria or Bracknell. We need someone who is passionate about machine learning and be able to convey a thorough understanding of the Partnership's customers; their behaviours, characteristics and relationships with the organisation.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

● Extensive machine learning experience
● Strong experience with applied statistics and machine learning techniques (supervised and unsupervised learning, natural language processing, neural networks, Bayesian statistics, time-series forecasting)
● Experienced user of R or Python
● Good SQL & Excel skills
● Highly analytical mindset with problem solving attitude
● Strong experience with data visualisation and the graphical presentation of key messages and concepts

Required desirable experience skills and qualifications

● Experience in retail and marketing
● Experience with rapid prototyping
● Good communication skills, with proven ability to work across functional teams to translate business issues into potential analytics solutions
● An understanding of Big Data platforms including Hadoop, HDFS, Hive and Impala
● Experience with Spark and H2O
● Experience with Google Cloud storage and analytics
