This role can be based in Bracknell or London, but travel is required to both sites

Duties & Responsibilities

We are looking to enhance our Data Privacy team and have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Privacy Analyst to join them based at either of our Head Office locations in Bracknell Berkshire or Victoria, London. This is a fixed term contract until October 2020.

Within this role you will act as the point of contact within the privacy office for projects and assisting with data protection impact assessments across the Partnership.Thus, helping to ensure that the Partnership is respecting the rights of individuals and abiding by its own internal policies and standards.

This multifaceted role will also require you to proactively support Partners who have submitted ideas and suggestions relating to compliance.

You will conduct external research to ensure the Partnership is aware of the latest developments in the world of compliance and will have a continuous focus on identifying how to improve our ways of working.

This is a fantastic role for someone who is confident in stakeholder management at all levels, has an understanding and knowledge personal data protection rules, and is an independent thinker and able to work autonomously.

Job Requirements

The requirements for this include, but are not limited to:

Lead and/or assist Partners and the data privacy office with various projects as required
Assist in the development of multiple assessment reports
Create and maintain relationships with recognised experts in the field
Assist with the creation, update, and editing of privacy-related policies, standards and guidance
Write news stories covering latest data protection developments daily and weekly
Research and identify relevant data privacy and information security practices associated with complex business processes, assist with the creation of corrective recommendations and actions
Maintain the John Lewis Partnership's and the Data Privacy Office's knowledge of personal data protection legislation, guidance and practice

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

Degree in Law, International Relations/ Politics or similar
CIPP Certified (Europe)
Computer literacy in content management programs such as Quark, FileMaker; able to learn new computer programs quickly
Previous editorial experience
Experience / knowledge of data protection developments
Legal research experience
To be an excellent communicator both in writing and orally
Previous experience of conducting research and presenting findings to different audiences.
Database management

Understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation, EU law, Privacy and Electronic
Communications regulations (PECR)
Knowledge of Partnership IT Systems
Previous experience of a large retailer/organisation
Privacy aspects and application of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, the Equality Act 2010, the Access to Health Records Act 1990, the Caldicott Standards and Gillick Competency rules, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
