Duties & Responsibilities

Our mission in GCI is to not only optimise our existing data asset through improved quality and richness, but to also leverage the power of data by scaling the impact of our analysis.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Customer Insight Analyst to join the team in London Victoria on a full time, permanent basis. The Senior Customer Insight Analyst will support Divisions and the Partnership to achieve business goals and objectives through the design, delivery and interpretation of customer insight from customer behavioural & transactional data and other commercial information; by using advanced analytical techniques and by supervising a team of Customer Insight Analysts.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities and Duties

Customer Insight and Analysis
- Be passionate about customer insight and be able to demonstrate and convey a thorough understanding of the Partnership's customers; their behaviours, characteristics and relationship with the organisation
- Develop a thorough and detailed understanding of the Partnership Customer Database (PCD) data model - table structures and data definitions; how the data was collected and its sufficiency and accuracy
- Analyse project briefs and design and the most appropriate analysis approach to adopt for each project
- Extract, prepare, analyse and interpret large data sets in order to undertake statistical evaluation
- Apply the most appropriate statistical techniques to meet the business objectives for the project (such as segmentation, propensity and CHAID modelling, regression analysis etc.)

Stakeholder Management
- Establish and build effective working relationships with stakeholders in the John Lewis and Corporate Divisions
- Understand Divisional and Partnership stakeholders' commercial goals and objectives
- Work with stakeholders to translate business questions and issues into customer insight and analytical briefs for clients to sign off

Group Customer Insight Department - Development & management
- Manage and prioritise the team's workload to meet agreed deadlines and deliverables
- Delegate responsibility for customer analysis tasks to the Customer Insight Analysts according to workload, priorities, resource availability and technical competencies of the team
- Coach and develop Analysts
- Support the Customer Insight Manager with short to mid-term resource planning
- Research and develop industry best practice developments in customer insight and analytical techniques and where appropriate incorporate these in analysis projects

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Significant experience working with customer data to create insight within a transactional data intensive organisation (preferably retail).
- First class data manipulation and analytical skills.
- Advanced user of SAS Base, SAS Enterprise Guide & Miner/SPSS/SQL/Excel/ PowerPoint.
- Senior Stakeholder management and presentation skills
- Working knowledge of Data Protection Act

Required desirable experience skills and qualifications

- Team management experience and ability to grow and develop a team
