What’s the role about?

We have an opportunity to join our John Lewis Financial Services operation as a Senior Commercial Manager within Credit. This is an opportunity to drive strategic direction and shape our five year strategy within credit - Playing a key role in supporting the Partnership Plan and setting a clear direction and guardrails to achieve outcomes aligned to the Partnership strategy. 

What will you be doing?

You will shape and drive the strategic direction and 5 year strategy for Credit Cards within John Lewis Financial Services. You will be responsible for building, designing and the proposition for our products; managing P&L and owning the Marketing strategy, business processes and frameworks to drive continuous improvement, efficiency and effectiveness.

You will work closely with the customer office; thinking about how we reach our customers and drive the acquisition of credit cards, both within retail and the wider market. Thinking about how we can increase loyalty, customer retention and spending. Challenging and empowering teams and to create greater value for our customers and the wider Partnership.

You will identify and capitalise on opportunities and areas for improvement; creating resolutions through new product designs to encourage growth and fulfil our customers’ needs. You will increase spending and loyalty; obsessing over the enhancement of commercial performance, customer experience and driving product penetration for the John Lewis Partnership. Accountable for improving performance within agreed budgets, procedures, regulation and legislation - you will play a key role in the overall leadership and success of the team. 

You will be at the core of managing P&L, working with credit card providers’ fraud and collection strategies, understanding nuances, market conditions and contexts. You will effectively manage, build and maintain key stakeholder relationships to drive performance and ensure that we make direct income from Financial Services.

What you'll have

  • Knowledge of how to run P&L in credit cards

  • Understanding of Marketing Strategies and distribution channels

  • Understanding of product and proposition design

  • Understanding of product build and implementation

  • Experience in retail credit
