Duties & Responsibilities

The Leckford Estate was purchased by John Spedan Lewis, the founder of the John Lewis Partnership, in 1929. The estate is 1,600 hectares in size and is split down the middle, north to south, by the River Test, famous as the home of fly-fishing.

The estate is organised around four business units, supported by the estate office team:
- Farming - with arable, dairy, beef, orchard and vineyard enterprises
- Food Processing - Mushroom Farm, Processing Dairy and an Oilseed Processing Unit
- Retail, Leisure and Events - including a Farm Shop, Café, Nursery, Fishing and Golf
- Property

We have an exciting opportunity for a Section Manager Maintenance to join out team at the Waitrose & Partners Leckford Farm Estate.

You'll be managing the business critical day to day operation of the estate. With a farming or food processing background you'll have a hands on approach with your team and to getting the task done. You will be highly organised and a great communicator working closely with the estate management team. Organising the maintenance team resource to prioritise work to ensure an uninterrupted trading operation.

Job Requirements

Key responsibilities to include;

- Manage day to day operation of maintenance within the Leckford Estate and drives a culture of continuous improvement within the Maintenance team.

- Ensures adequate cover (all operating hours) is provided to the Estate and prioritises their work in a way which best suits the business needs

- Ensures the maintenance team respond appropriately during an emergency and are able to support the estates management team as required.

- Ensures the maintenance work safely at all times and raise the overall standard of estate infrastructure through effective balance of Planned Preventative Maintenance and reactive maintenance

- Communicates with Estate Senior Management and where appropriate central FM team on maintenance issues.

- Identifies where a task is better delivered by a contractor and ensures best value. Measures on site performance of contractors and gives feedback to the maintenance provider and MOM.

- Develop self and team ensuring the correct level of suitable training for their role. Facilitate and motivate progression within the team and instill a high performance culture by example.

- Champions health and safety and risk management

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Highly experienced engineer with some management experience
- A number of years of experience in food processing or farming sector

Required desirable experience skills and qualifications

- An engineering/ maintenance background.
