Description

What will you be doing?

  • Act as a critical strategic Business Partner for safety to the John Lewis and Waitrose Retail Directors and their respective leadership teams and provide expert leadership of safety for a wide range of internal stakeholders.

  • Develop monthly safety performance reports for John Lewis and Waitrose Retail Directors and their respective leadership teams.

  • Manage the investigation into serious incidents and provision of subject matter expertise for emergencies.

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the Partnership’s safety management system and the implementation of such into John Lewis and Waitrose Retail.

  • Support the development and delivery of key safety projects as part of the Partnership Safety Plan.

  • Provide directional support in the planning, measuring,reviewing and auditing of safety activities for both John Lewis and Waitrose Retail.

  • Work with the Health and Safety Lead to develop the annual Safety Audit Plan.

  • Accountable for the delivery of the plan and for the tracking and managing of actions following completed audits.

  • Interact with regulatory agencies including Primary Authority and Environmental Health.

What you'll have 

  • NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent

  • A minimum of working towards CMIOSH or equivalent.

  • Sound knowledge of safety legislation and ISO 45001

  • An innovative approach to problem solving, handling ever changing priorities, with good knowledge of continuous improvement and other business improvement techniques and methodologies

  • Experienced safety manager who has managed a team of safety professionals.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to build effective working relationships

  • Results orientated and comfortable communicating at all levels of seniority within a large Organisation

Duties and Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Retail Safety Support and Implementation Manager to join us, managing a team of four Regional Safety Advisors. As a subject matter expert you will be a critical business partner to the John Lewis and Waitrose Retail Directors and their Leadership teams, providing expert advice and support across all areas of Safety, managing investigations into serious incidents and providing support in emergency situations. Your will focus on ensuring that Safety remains high on the agenda for both brands and that all leaders and Partners understand their responsibilities.

This role requires you to be on call (on a rota basis) in order to provide emergency safety response 24/7 for all JLP sites.

The role will require travel to all areas of the UK, as this is a National position.
