Waitrose and Partners have a fantastic opportunity for a Product Development Assistant to join the Own Brand team on a Fixed Term Contract. The length of this contract is between 9-12 months.
What’s the role about?
In this role you will support the Product Development team in successfully delivering product change on own brand products.
You will ensure the day to day smooth operation of the Product Development team including the ownership and ongoing management of team documents including budget management tools.
You will support the delivery product projects to agreed deadlines and manage samples.
You will work mainly within the Product development function with the Product developers & CPGs, Own brand packaging teams, Chef & innovation team, Repro teams, Design, Packaging & Delivery Manager, and Own Brand team. As well with external suppliers.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of food and grocery products, a passion for product development and the ability to be agile and prioritise.
What will you be doing as a Product Development Assistant?
Some of the accountabilities for this role are:
Providing sample support, especially around key seasonal & benchmarking projects
Supporting Product Developers for excellent supplier briefing, including moodboard/inspiration collation,research and project scoping, market reviews and competitor shopping.
Supporting PDs across projects on daily activities in order to deliver the product programme on time & in full to agreed standards, for all channels, including legally compliant product naming and customer messages
Market & trend analysis. Sales review, analysis as directed by PD's on specific projects but also in review on launches.
Provide weekly panel administrative support as required
Support Manager, PD with team administration, including planning team meetings, coordinating with external suppliers/contacts for inspiration sessions.

What you'll have:
IT literate and confident and keen to learn new systems
Further education, including good level of Maths & English capability & evidence of good communication & analysis skills
A passion for product & innovation
Strong self-motivation, energy and drive
Good organisational skills and project management
Business related knowledge and experience, ideally in retail environment
