Duties & Responsibilities

The Online team at John Lewis is at the centre of new and exciting development for our brand and customers. We are using technology to innovate across our business and customer touch points inclusive of web, apps, store and customer services. We are rapidly growing our teams and are always looking for fresh digital talent to help us move forward.

The team are recruiting for a number of Product Assistants to join our Online Operations team on secondment or a fixed term contract. We are looking for flexible individuals who will be responsible for providing support to the wider team by writing product copy and setting product selling attributes.

Job Requirements

As a Product Assistant, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Writing accurate product detail copy using the brand guidelines and product level merchandising standards to enable the customer to make informed purchase decisions and therefore maximise conversion. Ensuring that the brand voice is clearly articulated.
- Working closely with the Online Merchandisers to understand merchandising standards, customer requirements and technical specifications for each product area.
- Responsibility for attribute completion and data integrity within copy and facets, working to the agreed standards and flagging/recording areas with potential risk back to Online Operations colleagues.
- Carrying out data cleansing on attributes and copy when necessary.
- Responsibility for ensuring products are associated with the correct legal copy in line with the merchandising guidelines.
- Supporting a collaborative and motivated team environment.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Background in a copywriting role and/or product merchandising
- Good communication
- Understanding of the product launch process for an online retailer
- Business-related degree or equivalent experience
