What's the role about?
The PMO team sits within the Change Profession in Technology & Change. The profession was set up about 2 years ago to provide centralised teams of expertise in Change Management, Programme & Project Management and PMO (Programme Management Office). Together, we’re responsible for delivering and landing over £500m+ of projects across the John Lewis Partnership; including everything from opening new fulfilment centres to the development of new IT systems and major organisational changes - all with the aim of ensuring the continuing success and vibrancy of the Partnership through an unparalleled customer experience.
Within the PMO team, we have introduced a new “Change Delivery Office” (CDO) made up of 4 roles. This team will provide three core services across the entire Partnership portfolio of change: tracking and reporting the performance of initiatives; carrying out analysis of our delivery to provide insight and highlight issues and risks to aid decision making; and manage the new Portfolio and Project Management tool (Planview).
We also recognise that we need to continue to develop our capabilities and ways of working, and are looking for our successful candidates to play an active part in that journey. They will also play a key part in demonstrating the value of PMO within and beyond the Change Profession by developing a culture of knowledge sharing, mentoring, and engaging other Partners.
This is an Fixed term contract (FTC) role for 12 months
What you'll be doing as a PMO Manager:
For the team as a whole, our primary focus is to support programmes and sub-portfolios to ensure that they are efficiently and effectively managed and thereby deliver the maximum value to the Partnership. You and your team will provide information, insight and challenge to allow timely and well-informed decision-making. Those working in the CDO will be looking across the whole portfolio (see above for the CDO’s areas of responsibility), and will need strong analytical skills to manage large quantities of data and be able to draw insight and conclusions..
You will be responsible for making use of the agreed delivery frameworks appropriately in the context of your programme and sub-portfolio(s), as well as playing a key role in continuously developing your team’s ways of working.
You will have the opportunity to develop and stretch personally and professionally to achieve your potential.
What you’ll have:
Experience of working in a PMO or Portfolio team, ideally including relevant qualification(s) such as P3O, MoP or AIPMO
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong analytical and technical skills, including Google and ideally PPM tools (such as Planview).
