Duties & Responsibilities

Working closely with the Waitrose Digital Design and Content team, the Online Design and Content (Frontend) Developer is responsible for building creative solutions for our websites.

This 18-month fixed term partner role is an opportunity for the successful candidate to translate designs to create functional and engaging assets, and helps inform a continuous test and learn development.

The Online Design and Content Developer will maintain the codebase as well as work closely with offshore resource, managing workflow and prioritising deliverables.

Job Requirements

Some of the requirements of this role include:

- Plan, schedule and manage the workflow ensuring tasks are assigned against the available resource. Own the reporting and communication of brief status.
- Translate designs to create highly visual, functional and engaging pages/assets while maintaining cross-browser, cross-platform and cross-device compatibility, web accessibility standards.
- Test and learn design development across a variety of areas across site to inform future continuous site improvements.
- Produce creative conceptual ideas and layouts leading to 'best in class' design solutions for projects allocated. Monitor design standards and ensure approval process is adhered to, to deliver high standards.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Advanced CSS
- Responsive Design & Development
- Modern JavaScript (ES6)
- Version Control (GIT / BitBucket)
- Build Tools (Gulp / Grunt / Webpack)
- Package Managers (NPM / Bower / Yarn)
- Experience with SVG's & Animations
- Front-End Build experience

Required desirable experience skills and qualifications

- Understanding of web accessibility
- Knowledge of current SEO best practices
- Understanding of CSS Methodologies
- Experience building style guides and component libraries
- Experience using Front-End Frameworks (React, Angular, Vue)
- Working in an eCommerce environment
