About the Role: 

In this role you will Lead the End-to-End Network Planning & Optimisation capability for Waitrose. A key part of this role will involve leading data-driven decisions based on the integrated planning process, business requirements and reporting (e.g. actuals / forecast / plan / budget variances). There are key accountabilities across 3 key areas: 

  • Network Planning - leading the end-to-end planning activities across Waitrose Supply Chain from the Operational Plan, forecast, daily/chamber capacity plans, budgets and resource requirements. Leading the stock and volume movements and balancing service with cost and efficiency to deliver the right balance of customer proposition, availability, wastage and working capital. Working closely with Trading, Merchandising, Distribution and Retail to manage conflicting business priorities and make the right decisions for the business as a whole

  • Network Optimisation - leading the Continuous Improvement (CI) activities to optimise the Supply Chain, including detailed budget modelling, developing Workforce Labour Management (WLM) and Standard Minute Value (SMV), understanding and balancing resources, DC routing (national / regional balancing) and leading the productivity team

  • Planning Transition States - plan the operational transition states as we continually evolve our network strategy

Essential Experience:

  • Leading planning function for complex, Grocery retailer

  • Managing plans from daily to 12 month time horizon

  • Providing constructive challenge and facilitating trade offs between competing business priorities

  • Balancing different needs and mediating where necessary

  • Leading CI portfolios

  • Accountability for budget setting

  • Exec level stakeholder engagement and management

  • Proven track record of delivery and data-driven decision-making

  • Leading large, complex cross-functional teams

Desired Experience:

  • Understanding of Merchandising, Finance and Distribution

  • Leading people through change in retail organisations
