Duties & Responsibilities

A big part of our Waitrose & Partners success is the Leckford Farm and Estate. As the only fully retailer owned farm in the UK, Leckford provides some of the fantastic produce our customers can buy in our Waitrose & Partners branches.

The Leckford Estate was purchased by John Spedan Lewis, the founder of the John Lewis Partnership, in 1929. The estate is 1,600 hectares in size and is split down the middle, north to south, by the River Test, famous as the home of fly-fishing.

The estate is organised around four business units, supported by the estate office team:

- Farming - with arable, dairy, beef, orchard and vineyard enterprises
- Food Processing - Mushroom Farm, Processing Dairy and an Oilseed Processing Unit
- Retail, Leisure and Events - including a Farm Shop, Café, Nursery, Fishing and Golf
- Property

As a Multi Skilled Operative, you'll be joining the passionate and vital Food Processing team to support the productivity of all of the food processing units by carrying out any of the operational tasks required. This helps deliver cost-effective products to Waitrose & Partners standards for quality, safety and legality.

Job Requirements

You'll be required to work across all areas of Food Processing, these include Oilseed Rape, Processing Dairy and Mushroom Farm. Full training will be given and the opportunity to gain external qualifications to support you in the role.

Working cross-functionally you'll work across all areas of the food processing team as needed to provide support to the wider team. This involves a variety of environments with lone and team working to maintain necessary safety and food hygiene standards for each area.

Flexible tasks across the estate eg. pressing rapeseed, filtering rapeseed oil, pasteurising milk to process the food and following this up with packing, labelling, quality control, cleaning and all other tasks to produce and deliver high standard produce from start to finish.

We always strive to produce high quality goods for our customers and pride ourselves on our high standards so adhering to BRC requirements and following all safe working practices is essential. Any equipment/machinery issues will need to be reported and escalated to the engineering team.
