Duties & Responsibilities

--- About Leckford ---

We are a 4,000-acre estate near Stockbridge, Hampshire. The estate was purchased in 1929 by John Spedan Lewis, founder of the John Lewis Partnership, and we have been farming it now for nearly 90 years.

We are the Waitrose Farm and our produce is supplied to Waitrose stores across the country. The estate is diverse and our commercial businesses span property, food production, farming, retail and leisure activities.

We care passionately about British farming and the environment and we practice 'The Waitrose Way' of healthy living, fair treatment, treading lightly on the environment and championing British produce.

--- About the Farm ---

The job is located on the Leckford Estate, the Waitrose & Partners Farm, in the Test Valley, Hampshire. We are the only supermarket owned farm in the UK.

The role of multi-skilled farm operator is one of around 12 full-time permanent positions in the Farming team although it is the only position which specifically works across all farming activities - fruit, arable, forage crops and livestock.

--- About the role ---

To assist the farm management team in maximising the profitability of the fruit, arable and livestock enterprises, whilst helping us to meet our commitments to environmental protection and to the enhancement of nature conservation on the estate.
