Duties & Responsibilities

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Middleware Infrastructure Engineer to join our Partnership IT Infrastructure team in Bracknell.

The Technical Lead within the Middleware team is a critical role within John Lewis Infrastructure Operations, responsible for ensuring operational brilliance for Middleware technology, as well as acting as a deputy for the Middleware Group Lead.

Job Requirements

n this role, you will be expected to:-
- Have excellent in depth technical knowledge of Websphere, distributed MQ, & IBM Data Power technology. Specifically, Websphere Application Server 6 to 8.5, IBM HTTP Server, Apache, IIS, Web Logic, ATG, redirection, reverse proxying, DNS & load balancing technology, SSL, Security, Introscope, APM, Shell scripting, Perl, Pyhon, DayCQ, CQSE, IBM MQ, IBM Service Gateway, as well as general UNIX skills
- Support, maintain & enhance the Partnership web technology infrastructure, ensuring team SLA & OLA compliance
- Mentor, support and coach other members of the team
- Be accountable for incident, problem & change management
- Engage with and provide support for Infrastructure Delivery via the Service Introduction function
- Have the capability to act as a deputy to the Middleware Group Lead

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

So what skills and experience do you need? Candidates should have some detailed understanding in the following areas:

- Previous experience as a senior member of a web technology or Middleware support team
- A strong background with the ITIL framework v3
- An appreciation of a wide range of infrastructure technologies such as Middleware, Database, Networks, Server and Client.
- Experience of day to day management & upgrades to enterprise class infrastructure; such as WAS, MQ & APM
- Experience in an operational IT team capacity
