Duties & Responsibilities

What's the role about?

The John Lewis Partnership's Information Security strategy is bold and ambitious, however, it's a constant battle to keep up with the latest cybersecurity threats. The key purpose of the Information Security Engineering service is to maintain and continually develop the security platform, this comprises all the security specific tools and technology components that other Information Security services use on a daily basis to manage cyber risk.

We provide a collection of security services, delivered through people, processes and technology that when working collaboratively ensure that customers can shop with us efficiently, safely and securely, every single day.

We are now looking for an experienced Lead Engineer to provide technical excellence within our Information Security Engineering team. In this role you'll be overseeing the delivery of new engineering capabilities, ensuring that our Security Operations Centre is equipped to counteract the latest cyber security threats.

Job Requirements

What you'll be doing as a Lead CyberSecurity Engineer

In this highly technical role, you will be responsible for developing our security operations platform and maintaining it's availability for Information Security Service teams to operate. You will bring your technical expertise to projects, transitioning the introduction of new cyber capabilities into Security Operations.

As a Lead Engineer, you will use your experience and knowledge to inspire and help develop more junior members of the team, as a role model for what “good” looks like.

You will develop positive relationships with colleagues from technology teams outside of Information Security and leverage vendors to ensure we reach our goals and objectives.

As an active member of the information security community, you will share information on the latest hacking techniques and security controls with your team and not be afraid to recommend fresh ideas to management.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

What you'll have

- Hands-on experience supporting and developing Security platform tools, such as SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability & compliance scanners, EDR, DLP, IDS, IPS etc and proficient understanding of underpinning technology including Windows, Linux and Networking.
- Subject matter expertise regarding cybersecurity tools and techniques.
- Proven ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
- Customer focused and a natural at developing good working relationships outside of the team
- A continuous improvement and agile mindset.
- Technical leadership experience backed up by good behaviours with a strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.

Required desirable experience skills and qualifications

What else you can bring to the role

- Experience in using and administering Splunk.
- Hands-on experience of cloud platforms; GCP, AWS or Azure.
