Duties & Responsibilities

What's the role about?

The John Lewis Partnership's Information Security strategy is bold and ambitious. We provide a collection of security services, delivered through people, processes and technology. Working collaboratively, these services ensure that customers can shop with us efficiently, safely and securely, every single day.

As part of an ever-evolving organisation, there is a need for Information Security involvement in many types of projects and changes. These include the delivery of real world propositions to the loyal customers of the John Lewis Partnership, as well as many internally focused projects delivering great benefits to the organisation.

We are looking for an Information Security Lead to assist with ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of our Secure by Design service. Using your experience and technical skills, you'll make sure that our team delivers a high-quality service using our resources in the most efficient and cost effective way possible. This in turn will help to ensure that the John Lewis Partnership develops and uses secure applications and services on an ongoing basis.

Job Requirements

What you'll be doing as a Information Security Lead

Acting as a Team Leader within this varied Information Security service, you'll be in charge of team KPI's and have good visibility of workloads, projects, and resource allocation across the team. With your expert knowledge of security, you'll make sure that we're utilising our own in-house tools and resources wherever possible, while balancing this with the smart use of 3rd party providers as required. You will also be allocated to complex pieces of work where in-depth security knowledge will be essential, this will involve engaging closely with projects and application teams to provide the appropriate security controls and assess risks.

The Secure by Design service also has responsibility for Information Security policies and standards, as well as third party assurance, so these are areas in which you will also be expected to play a key role.

As an Information Security Lead, you'll be able to accurately identify areas of risk that require escalation, work with key stakeholders and will proactively suggest improvements or new features when opportunities arise. You'll have the opportunity to put your own stamp on the team by identifying new ways of working and process improvements that will support the Secure by Design service in delivering the best outcomes possible.

There will also be an opportunity to act as a deputy for the Information Security Manager of the Secure by Design service when required.
