At a glance

Working pattern - 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday 07:00 - 16:30, working 1in 6 weekends on a rota basis.

This role is based at The Odney Club, Cookham, Berkshire

Salary range - The salary range for this role is set at £23,000 - £32,500 

Contract type - Permanent role


About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a horticulturalist who will work with our small team to maintain the Grounds and Gardens across The Odney Club Country Estate. 

You will need to be passionate about sowing, propagation and cultivation of plants and shrubs, as well as maintaining and nurturing plants with a keen eye for detail in our manicured areas of the estate. You will be a specialist in the finer details of horticulture and plant species.


(Internally this role is known as a Grounds and Gardens Technician).

Essential skills you’ll need:-

  • Relevant experience of working within a Grounds and/or Gardens Team
  • NVQ Level 2 or Equivalent in Professional Horticulture
  • Good work ethic
  • Enthusiastic personality
  • Attention to detail
  • Full Driving Licence

Desirable skills you could bring:-

  • Certificate in Chainsaw use NPTC CS30 / CS31
  • Certificate in safe use of Pesticides NPTC PA1, PA2, PA6
  • Experience working in commercial greenhouses
  • Qualification in Garden design
  • CPCS 360 Excavator A58
  • Hard landscaping experience
  • Experience in Topiary

About Odney:-

If you are looking for a hotel with something different and some history to work in, then The Odney Hotel, our Place by the River could be for you. This is a beautiful and unique John Lewis Partnership-owned hotel, set in 130 acres by the River Thames in Cookham, Berkshire. It offers both character and charm to our guests.
