Role Title: Health, Safety & Environment Advisor

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours of Work: 38.75 hours per week -  there is flexibility around daily hours but operational core hours are to be covered, and can be discussed at interview.

Salary: Starting from £42,100 - depending on skills and experience

About the role

  • As the HSE advisor you will act as the first point of contact for all the site's safety advice. You will work directly with the branch management to understand any safety risks, support & identify solutions. You will complete safety audits, and support managers to complete accident /incident investigations if needed, tracking recommendations and ensuring they are actioned.

  • To provide administrative support and advice to the branch in Health, Safety and Environmental matters & relative standards.

  • Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of all HSE documentation & reporting requirements. To use your knowledge, skills & experience to promote a positive Health and Safety culture within the workplace. To operate within the guidelines of ISO standards

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all HS&E legislative requirements and any developments that affect the industry.

  • Carry out safety audits in line with Partnership & branch Safety programmes.

  • Support Partners at all levels to understand their responsibilities with respect to health and safety.

  • Conduct regular branch checks to ensure all HS&E policies and procedures are being followed.

  • Ensure all documentation in respect of policies & procedures are accurately maintained and where appropriate comply with all statutory regulations.

  • Review all risk assessments & provide managers with relevant updates to take appropriate action to actively reduce risk.

  • Provide support for delivering in-house training to all Partners regarding safety issues and risk.

  • Support and drive HS&E through onsite H&S representatives.

  • Attend internal & external meetings, ensuring all reporting is accurate and reflective of the time period.

  • Generate monthly safety toolbox talks.

  • Ensure sufficient reporting mechanisms are in place & accurate in relation to activity not limited to Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs.

  • To deliver the Health, Safety & Environment requirements and responsibilities to support site sustainability and for the registration of company wide ISO: 14001 and 45001.

  • Ensure all equipment is installed safely, including updated PUWER assessments.

  • Where necessary attend Group & Regional meetings. Facilitate on HS&E meeting locally.

Essential skills you’ll need 

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent H&S qualification as a minimum 

  • Experience of implementing EHS Management Systems and supporting procedures 

  • Auditing experience 

  • EHS experience in a manufacturing industry 

Desirable skills you might have

  • Sound knowledge of ISO standards 9001, 14001 & 45001 

  • EHS experience in a textiles industry 

  • Experience working with Continual Improvement methodologies
