What’s the role about?In this role you will assist the Fleet Engineer in continually driving engineering improvements and whole life cost reduction in the commercial vehicle fleet through working with Operators, analysis, testing and selection and application of new technology. You will lead low carbon projects, and have oversight of CT infrastructure and livery.
What will you be doing?
Assist Fleet Engineer to constantly seek improvement and evolution of vehicle specifications by :- - Working with and influencing operators to optimise vehicle productivity and driver reaction- Working with and influencing Maintenance Department to minimise whole life cost and downtime
Manage and liaise with outside academic organisations and consultancies (Cambridge University, Cranfield, SRF, Cenex etc) to direct research and apply learnings to the fleet
Conduct in-service , dynamometer and track testing to optimise fuel consumption
Manage technical investigations and assist in generic warranty claims and campaigns
Liaise with vehicle manufacturers aftersales department where appropriate
Oversight of written vehicle specifications
Oversight of vehicle livery
Oversight of infrastructure, ie bulk fuel tanks, vehicle washes, fuel monitoring equipment
Analyse future and current vehicle, fuel, refrigeration and equipment technologies and advise on their feasibility.
Maintaining links with sustainability, proving, and academic bodies to maintain best practice and seek expert opinion
Seek and evaluate low GWP refrigerant solutions
What you'll haveCommercial vehicle engineering qualification (NVQ 3)
Certificate of Professional Competence in road transport operations
Commercial vehicle maintenance experience
Compliance with VOSA standards

LGV C + E driving licence
HNC or above
