London based with travel to other head offices and site locations across the Partnership estate.

Duties & Responsibilities

We are looking for a Fire Engineering Manager to join the John Lewis Partnership. This is a key role, supporting the Partnership in meeting all legislative and insurance requirements related to fire and petroleum (DSEAR regulations) risk management across our property portfolio.

Job Requirements

Key responsibilities to include;
Maintain a current knowledge of relevant legislation, to support the development fire and petroleum policy, standards and process. Drive and monitor its application, providing assurance the Partnerships regulatory and insurance requirements are met and maintained.

Undertake and support the Partnerships risk assessment processes, assessing and evaluating buildings fire strategies, ensuring our regulatory requirements are maintained.

Provide support to legal duty holders and nominated Directors to enable them to implement fire and petroleum policy, standards and processes.

Driving innovation to develop fire engineering solutions to support the Partnerships property development programmes and existing estate property portfolio.

Review and approve fire engineering design solutions at key design stages for new development and refurbishment construction projects and monitor standards, ensuring fire safety standards are maintained.

Manage external fire engineering consultants, including performance and resource management to seek continuous improvement.

Identifies, engages and influences key internal stakeholders and represent the Partnership when dealing with external bodies and and government departments to help shape and support the delivery of Partnership policy

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Recognised Fire safety or fire engineering qualification with membership to an appropriate institution
- Extensive fire safety management experience with a public or private organisation
- Extensive knowledge of retail development and building design processes
