The Ethics & Sustainability (E&S) Manager, Risk & Reporting sits within the E&S team which is responsible for delivering the Partnership’s E&S strategy in service of this Purpose. This holistic strategy covers all aspects of the Partnership’s business, including our two much-loved brands, John Lewis and Waitrose. There are three key pillars within our E&S ambition; Supply Chain, Environment, and Communities & Customers.
WHAT’S THE ROLE ABOUT?
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as E&S Manager, Risk & Reporting. This role is an integral part of our E&S Planning Performance team, and reports directly to the E&S Lead, Planning & Performance.
Reporting and assurance: You will be responsible for the timely delivery of all of the Partnership’s E&S public reporting, ensuring that our progress is robustly and transparently communicated, delivering legislative compliance as well as actively contributing to the Partnership’s leadership position by enabling key opinion formers such as NGOs to access and assess our performance in key areas. Supported by an E&S Specialist, you will also be responsible for the assurance of E&S reporting.
Risk: You will also support the E&S Director by ensuring that risk management guardrails for E&S in the Partnership are in place and managed, using your expertise to proactively identify and manage sustainability risks, and progressing them through the relevant governance routes.
This role is flexible and you can be located at either Bracknell or Victoria with a blend of working from home and at one of those Partnership locations.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
Delivering E&S external reporting in areas including but not limited to: E&S Annual Report, Human Rights Report & Modern Slavery Statement, E&S elements of the Partnership’s Annual Report and Accounts (TCFD, SECR, Section 172).
Develop the framework to report on performance internally and externally, monitoring new reporting requirements to ensure the Partnership’s reporting framework is always up to date.
Responsible for collating and assuring data from across the E&S team and other areas of the business, that enables the Partnership to track its progress against E&S-specific targets
Manage external relationships such as assurance bodies and creative agencies to ensure work is delivered on time and to budget.
Collaborate with internal and external communications teams in order to maximise impact of E&S reporting.
Collating E&S input into the relevant Partnership risk register and ensuring the team is acting to bring relevant areas of activity within risk appetite.
Leading and developing a team of two Partners.
WHAT YOU’LL HAVE:
We are looking for an individual who will be able to quickly get up to speed in order to deliver the Partnership’s reporting requirements for this financial year, which will require the following skills:
Outstanding organisational and prioritisation skills: able to adapt to ever-changing circumstances, assess workload realistically in terms of urgency and importance, and change plans where necessary to always deliver on time.
Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills, internally and externally.
High attention to detail and ability to evaluate and analyse different types of complex data objectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt style and content for a variety of internal and external audiences.
Experience in corporate communications or reporting in a complex environment, including disclosure of both quantitative and qualitative information
A passion for E&S and experience across a breadth of subject areas
Experience in Risk Management or Business Performance Management: strong understanding of the nature and application of risk management. Able to work across different areas to ensure risk is captured and acted upon appropriately
Understanding of E&S reporting trends and legislation, including current and future requirements.

Experience in one or more of the following reporting frameworks: GRI, TCFD, UN Global Compact, CDP, integrated reporting, UNSDGs
