What's the role about?
The planning and performance team develops and provides a cohesive picture of the Sustainability & Ethics (S&E) strategy, priorities and programmes for internal and external stakeholders as well as identifying where and how this strategy should be embedded into the business process. The team leads on S&E performance, reporting, communications, risk and processes for the wider team and the Partnership.
In the role you are responsible for supporting the delivery of the strategy for S&E, in line with the wider business strategy which will influence Customers, Partners, suppliers and the constitution. You will support delivery of the Partnership’s S&E strategy through leading selected initiatives, horizon scanning, managing data and supporting the reporting and assurance process. You will use your expertise in a specific area of S&E to engage with key stakeholders, enhancing and differentiating the Partnership’s position as a market leader in Corporate Responsibility, and publicly representing the Partnership if required.
You work with the Sustainability & Ethics team and Partners across the Partnership to deliver the commercial and market advantage that the S&E opportunity provides to the Partnership. You will be customer focused with the aim that customers are more engaged than ever, responding positively to our initiatives and challenging us to go further.
What will you be doing?
Focusing on a specific area of Sustainability & Ethics, using and developing your expertise to support the development and execution of work plans in that area. You will also have the opportunity to support in different areas of the team as desired and required.
Be responsible for supporting members of the S&E team in responding to strategic priorities to unlock our commercial advantage, and take the lead on this in certain areas.
Provide research for internal and external horizon scanning, strategy formulation and policy development. Be responsible for completing robust data collection and ensuring reporting mechanisms are in place.
Responsible for leading on selected initiatives and projects which support the wider S&E strategy.
Develop internal and external communications material as required, including presentations, briefing packs, website content, letters and meeting papers. Deliver the organisation of stakeholder events ensuring they meet the standards expected of the Partnership.
Work with the Risk and Reporting Manager to deliver robust, clear reporting on S&E in line with Partnership’s broader leadership ambitions
Work across and beyond the S&E team to gather quantitative and qualitative input for reporting
Conduct ‘first line’ assurance on all public claims and reporting as required
Work with Corporate and Customer Communications teams to ensure alignment and credibility of external messaging
Work with interim Data and Systems manager to identify current state and future needs relating to S&E data management and impact measurement, and work with key stakeholders beyond S&E to identify and ensure smooth implementation of potential solutions
Work with the S&E Manager - Risk, Reporting & Assurance and S&E Managers - Performance (& Engagement) to coordinate and have oversight of internal S&E communications activity i.e. to be the team’s conduit with Partner communications and coordinate overarching supplier communications activity
What you’ll have:
Degree level qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
Good IT and data management skills
Good written and verbal communicator
Excellent organisational skills
Strong interest in and passion for sustainability
Strong attention to detail
Experience in liaising with a wide range of stakeholders in a business environment
Experience in leading the delivery of successful strategic projects
Relevant industry experience in one or more relevant areas of Sustainability & Ethics. Experience in the relevant area of expertise, for this role this includes: Experience in gathering, reporting and/or assuring Sustainability & Ethics performance information and data for communication to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
A basic understanding of applicable reporting legislation including requirements under the Modern Slavery Act, Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) and Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
