Duties & Responsibilities

Does the prospect of leading the technology transformation strategy of John Lewis & Partners into a Digital Business excite you? We are looking for an Enterprise Architect to help take John Lewis & Partners to the next level in developing it's strategic digital and retail commerce capability across a diverse set of propositions and channels.

The John Lewis Partnership has ambitious plans to grow it's internal engineering capability and have started our transition into the cloud moving away from legacy on premise technologies, making heavy use of modern tools and techniques to deliver customer differentiating experiences. As a key member of the Technology Strategy and Architecture team based out of our Head Office in London, Victoria, you will be at the heart of developing a digitally enabled landscape to support selling experiences across all selling touch points.

Understanding the opportunities and challenges in creating a compelling omni channel business whilst working across a diverse set of technologies and customer propositions is essential. In addition to this, you will be responsible for providing connected thought leadership, creating the IT strategy and intentional architecture, as well as providing technical leadership and direction on business initiatives driving the realisation of our microservices architecture and how it is embedded within the wider technology landscape.

Job Requirements

You and your team will shape the technology strategy and IT architecture for specific IT capabilities within the enterprise ensuring they supports the Partnership's wider commerce ambitions. You will lead the architecture to build a modern, market leading digital platform, across multiple client form-factors, channels and technologies, shaping the strategic direction of the all selling touch points as well as ensuring that there is robust integration with dependent systems and services such as: Content Management, Product Information, Customer Information, Order Management, Digital Marketing and Payment.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Proven experience of developing a credible and practical target architecture within a retail or services domain, which supports the Business and IT strategy
Exceptional communication and influencing skills with the ability to advise and recommend with real credibility at all levels whilst managing complex stakeholder relationships
- Proven critical analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively to develop creative technology strategies for rapidly changing, highly ambiguous challenges and opportunities
- Broad understanding of systems integration, APIs, Micro Services, Cloud and Service Oriented Architecture design.
-- Experience of working with SaaS/Cloud software alongside 'Commercial of the Shelf Packages' and a mix of in house developed assets
- Experience of working with 3rd party partners and software vendors during the design and build.
- A track record of exploiting digital innovation and continuous improvement thinking.
