Duties & Responsibilities

The John Lewis Partnership have an opportunity for a Director, Strategy & Insight to join our John Lewis Head Office in London Victoria.

This is a unique opportunity to work with the John Lewis Management Board to continue developing our strategy - identifying opportunities, discussing key risks and providing insight to support decision making.

You will then translate this strategy into a business plan and articulate what is required to make this happen. The focus will be on building data and insight in order to provide the best possible service to our customers, who are at the heart of everything we do.

You will lead a team of experts in all areas of strategy and insight - customer, trading and operational - so will ideally have experience in the development of strategy or innovation and leading in a matrix environment.

Job Requirements

Shapes the JLMB conversations to secure an agreed strategy, providing insight to support recommendations and identifying business development opportunities to leverage the brand

Leads the transition of the strategy into a business plan and its mobilisation

Develops an advanced analytics function that describes and diagnoses business opportunities for the brand

Ensures that John Lewis meets its data stewardship responsibilities for customer data

Provides clear leadership to the strategy and insight teams to build a high performing team of recognised experts across the John Lewis Partnership

Identifies and secures investment that supports the agreed brand direction and optimises the return for Partners across the business

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Experience of development of strategy and innovation
- Ability to influence at Board level across a large, complex organisation
- Proven ability to set vision and deliver through a team of experts in their field
- Experience of leading in a digital marketplace
- Good financial acumen and stakeholder management
