This role is known internally as Analytics Implementation Architect Developer.

Duties & Responsibilities

This important role ensures that John Lewis Online has a robust and comprehensive data capture environment. The Web Analytics Implementation Developer works with the marketing and other business teams to understand requirements, designs and develops customized JavaScript for analytics and tracking. They work with the development team, IT, and 3rd parties to implement and deploy the tracking. This role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to understand web site technologies and architecture, online business model and strategy.

Job Requirements

Gathering Business Requirements
• Consult with product teams to gather measurement requirements and translate these into a documented technical implementation guide
Delivering Analytics Implementation
• Work with development, and IT teams to install, configure and use web analytics services including Adobe Analytics using Ensighten Tag Manager.
• Develop, customize and troubleshoot JavaScript analytics tracking code to ensure tracking is working correctly
• Support John Lewis developers and third parties throughout the implementation process
• Perform quality assurance and data QA to ensure tagging is working correctly and as planned
• Proactively review and fix tagging issues
• Project manage multiple requests and project activities at any one time to ensure accurate, timely and efficient implementation and tracking deliverables
Stakeholder Management
• Collaboration with John Lewis Online Product teams and IT community to support delivery of website changes
• Close collaboration with colleagues across the analytics and insight team to ensure tracking meets changing business and analytics requirements
• Proactive support of colleagues to deliver individual, team and business objectives
• Flexibility to support delivery of cross-team projects and willingness to be involved in the delivery of ad-hoc analysis and reporting

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

Degree level or suitable equivalent experience

Technical skills
• Advanced JavaScript, JQuery and JSON skills
• Strong knowledge of HTML, DOM, and events
• Understanding of web protocols
• Experience working with data - scraping data, data manipulation, regular expressions, etc.

General skills
• Clear communicator, strong verbal and written skills
• Ability to prioritize workflow and handle multiple, competing and changing priorities
• Ability to perform effectively without supervision and within established time limits and ongoing deadlines
• Analytical skills - demonstrable experience of gathering business requirements, developing appropriate analysis and delivery of actionable results
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, be a team player and manage change effectively

Required desirable experience skills and qualifications

Degree in computer science, information systems, or other related fields

• Experience implementing or working with clickstream web analytics tools such Adobe Analytics (Omniture SiteCatalyst), Adobe Discover, Google Analytics, or working knowledge of the field of web analytics
• Knowledge of/experience with Tag Management Systems (Ensighten, Adobe Dynamic Tag Manager, Google Tag Manager, Tealium) preferred but not required
• Solid understanding of online marketing practices across digital channels (paid search, banner advertising, social, mobile, email, etc.) as well as media buys, ad serving, and media analytics a plus
• Proficiency in Excel
• Experience with SQL-based queries, flat-file handling through programmatic code, ETL tools
• Demonstrated customer relationship skills
• Experience within retail environment
• Comfortable providing training on analytics tool usage
