Duties & Responsibilities

John Lewis Partnership is investing in it's award winning in house design team. We are building an exciting own brand vision for home underpinned by inspirational product and a strong customer focus.

We are looking to recruit experienced creatives who are both ambitious and proactive with a passion for design.

Responsible for designing and developing exclusive and differentiated products according to their specialist areas for the John Lewis brand, that meet the brand style, price and quality criteria and in doing so delight our customers.

Demonstrates expertise in product design and product development for a variety of homewares and gifts categories.

The designer will initiate and develop creative strategies for new products and work with the buyers to bring these to life. The designer is responsible for building good relationships and creative influence when working with the wider Design, Buying & Product Tech teams. In addition the designer will work closely with our manufacturing partners.

This designer will travel with the team to research and to develop products in the UK, Europe and the Far East.

Job Requirements

This role is within the 3D product team, which is part of the Design Studio, Home. This team comprises of product designers who develop a wide range of homewares both decorative and functional, working in collaboration with our team of Cook Dine and Gift designers and Furniture designers.

The designer provides commercial and innovative design solutions that fit the brief. This designer will need to have the agility to flex their style to cater for the breadth of styles and product types we offer to our customers.

Comprehensive commercial awareness of homewares and gifting market is essential.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Relevant design qualification
- In depth Home or Gifts design experience
- Extensive CAD system usage & knowledge
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Proven experience in manufacture (design & development)
- Team player

Required desirable experience skills and qualifications

- Line Manager experience
