What will you be doing 

  • Take ownership and responsibility for designing, developing and delivering original, relevant, customer-centric and distinct best in class own brand products, to deliver planned growth for categories.

  • Utilises customer and trend insights to inspire, excite and delight our customers. Originates commercial and innovative designs for relevant product areas

  • Leads design projects, working independently, alongside or in collaboration with the wider Design and Trading community.

  • Build relationships with stakeholders across the design, buying teams and product tech to deliver design objectives.

  • Produces precise design packs for suppliers. Ensures the product development and sampling process is efficient.

What you'll have

  • Experience in stakeholder management, excellent communication and presentation skills

  • A proven commercial focus

  • A track record of credible creative achievements

  • A strong understanding of the JL&P brand and / or sub brands, their brand values and potential for product


What else could you bring?

  • BA degree in Design (product, furniture, textiles, surface pattern, decorative arts)

  • Substantial experience within a retail product design studio

  • Good external network across the design industry


Duties and Responsibilities

We are looking to recruit a proactive and creative designer to join our in-house design studio within our Gifting design team. You will join a team of surface pattern designers, working in collaboration with our team of 3D product designers, who develop textile, paper and hard products. The opportunity to design surface patterns for a diverse range of products is key to working in this varied role. This is a temporary role where you will be covering a Partner on Maternity leave.
