Duties & Responsibilities

John Lewis Partnership is investing in it's award winning in house design team. We are building an exciting own brand vision for home underpinned by inspirational product and a strong customer focus.

We are looking for an experienced, proactive & creative furniture designer to join our inhouse design studio.

The successful applicant will be a designer who has strength in research, concept development & technical product development and can flex their design style to a contemporary or a classic style.

They will specialise in design and product development for Furniture, and be skilled in both upholstery and cabinetry - being able to flex between all furniture, both indoor and outdoor. The will be responsible for the line management of an Assistant Designer, so will be experienced in managing people.

This designer will need to be an excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
to manage and flex between multiple projects and stakeholders and suppliers. They would have worked with suppliers on product development, and this ideally would have been in the Far East.

Job Requirements

> Researches and develops trend information to input into creative directions and Buying Strategy.

Stakeholder Management
> Engages with stakeholders across the business in order to deliver design objectives. Builds relationships and works collaboratively with buying to deliver identified outcomes. Keeps all stakeholders informed of progress to ensure engagement and support.

Commercial Awareness
> Demonstrate awareness of opportunities for design and development of market leading own brand product.
