What’s the role about?
As a debit analyst, you will be responsible for supporting our trading and profit protection teams in ensuring that we have robust agreements in place with our suppliers to support the return of products. Reducing the level of shrinkage within the John Lewis business is central to our ongoing success and this role will play a pivotal role in ensuring that we maximise the profit that we make on our sales.
What you’ll be doing as a Debit Analyst:
You will be working closely with our trading teams, our profit protection teams and our distribution teams to identify opportunities to reduce profit shrinkage through implementation of relevant contractual agreements with our suppliers and ensuring that robust processes are in place to minimise losses. You will support teams in ensuring that the agreements that they have in place continue to be relevant and support the business through our guarantee liabilities. You will also be responsible for getting under the skin of our returns and profit loss data to identify new opportunities to maximise profitability and simplify our processes.
Why do our Partners love working with us? This is a unique role, with only one debit analyst in the entire John Lewis business. This guarantees that your skills, experience and knowledge will be in high demand and means that every day is different. You will have the opportunity to work with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, whether that is supporting the more junior members of the trading teams to broaden their knowledge of after sales agreements or providing insight to our directors to define future strategic opportunities.
What you’ll already have:
You will be a self starter who is able to identify issues and opportunities from a number of angles. You will be able to propose solutions for complex problems and bring these to culmination through a determination to succeed. You will be able to prioritise your workload in order to deliver maximum value for the business whether that be through cost reduction or operational efficiencies.
You will be able to work with stakeholders both internally and externally at all levels of an organisation and build strong relationships that enable you to deliver results. You will be able to identify blockers and strive to overcome them through collaboration.
You will not be afraid to challenge the status quo if required but will strive to always do the right thing and ensure that you use evidence and data to articulate well developed solutions. You will be an advocate for change and be able to effectively manage your customers through the change process.
As a business we encourage flexible working. We have a number of different ways to work flexibly, so at your interview feel free to talk about what flexibility means to you. There are no guarantees, however, examples of how our Partners already work flexibly include part-time, job share, home working and compressed hours. Head office areas also support a blended working approach.
We occasionally close vacancies early in the event we receive a high volume of applications. Therefore, we recommend you apply early
