What’s the role about?
As a Category Sourcing Manager - Home you will be recognised as an expert in softline and/ or hardline home sourcing. You will have a deep understanding of your particular category / groups of categories and be responsible for implementing the own brand home sourcing strategy within this area whilst aligning to the Directorate strategy as set out by the Home Sourcing Lead.
You will be able to analyse and interpret the relevant data and insight provided for your category. Working closely with the Sourcing Lead you will use your insight to contribute to and influence the strategic sourcing plan for your category, as well as with buying offices, making recommendations on the supply base for your area of responsibility in order to drive profitability and deliver a responsive, transparent and ethical supply chain . You will develop the growth, decline and exit strategies alongside the in-region Category Managers, identifying when categories need support at a local level. You will set the calendar and cadence for E-Tenders required.

What will you be doing?
You will be managing a product category for John Lewis own brand home product within the Global Sourcing Team. You will be informing and implementing a sourcing strategy to deliver the optimum balance of sourcing across the globe for your category.You will identify and recommend new routes to market at a category level and use open costings to unlock value. You will work on critical path improvements at a category level to improve speed to market and flexibility.
You will keep up to date with market activities, delivering supply chain and sourcing insight for your category including on trade agreements, commodity and currency movements, competitor activity and other market data. You will build strong relationships with stakeholders and working with Sourcing Office Category Managers and Merchandisers use your expertise and insight alongside the analysis of data from the Sourcing Analyst to influence decisions that can increase efficiency, reduce cost and improve sustainability, quality and traceability.
What you'll have
Expert knowledge of global own brand sourcing for home soft and / or hard lines category
In depth knowledge of country of origin sourcing - right region, right product, right route approach
Understanding at a high level of the manufacturing capabilities and processes within your industry
Insight on Free Trade Agreements, duties, commodities, currencies etc...
Expertise in costing at bill of material level

Degree in relevant field or equivalent
Experience of working with stakeholders located in different regions in the world
