Duties & Responsibilities

The John Lewis Physical Estate Programme plays a pivotal role in developing and driving change into our shops. We operate in an increasingly complex world in the context of substantial structural change in both the retail and property markets. We must ensure that we both develop our market leading proposition as well as maintaining a sustainable physical estate. In developing our shops, we collaborate with our trading and marketing colleagues, curating propositions and value drivers from across the divisions, as well as working collaboratively across the Partnership to drive value.

This is a chance for a highly motivated professional with the ability to work at high pace to join the department as the Physical Estate Capital Prioritisation Manager. You will bring together value creating ideas from across the business and prioritise them for development and delivery in line with our overarching strategy to drive maximum impact and optimum value. You will be coming on board as a key member of the team, setting the pace for an efficient department and building great stakeholder relationships. A sound understanding of financial and investment principles is required with tenacity to drive ideas to outcome and continually searching for value creating ideas.

Job Requirements

Physical Estate Capital Coordination (Shops and Non-Retail)
- Works across all functions who have ambition to invest in our physical assets to
coordinate all capital spend for Budgeting and future Capital or Business Planning.

Shop Capital Prioritisation (Shops only)
Understanding the overall Customer, Assortment and PE strategy, can translate
these into priorities for PE spend that meet the needs of the PE Commercial Asset

Owns Shop Capital 'feasibility funnel'
Works across all teams, ensure all who want to invest and make change in shops
know and understand how and when to best develop new ideas into projects that
feed into the PEP.

PEP Lead with PMO & Senior Teams
Actively works with the PMO and Senior PEP Managers within a number of areas (see attached job description)

Stakeholder Management & Communication
Brings together all owners of capital to build one true picture of all physical capital
into one place and one plan.

Continuous Improvement
Drives cross-functional efficiency in the development & delivery of PE programme,
creating an “art of the possible” culture that settles only for highest standards.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

- Experience in Retail or FMCG
- Retail analysis or similar commercial expertise.
- Excel, modelling, database management experience
- Proven track record of delivering strategic thinking /recommendation and innovation in high calibre retail or similar sector
- Evidence of Board/Senior Leadership stakeholder management. Experience building, managing and influencing diverse relationships across a business.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills

- A deep understanding of and affiliation to the JL brand, partnership and its principles
