Duties & Responsibilities

As the John Lewis Partnership continues to grow, so do our Buying teams. As a result, we are currently seeking x4 Buyers to join us across Health and Beauty, Bakery and Grocery, to be based at our Waitrose Head Office in Bracknell. Please note that these positions are both permanent and fixed term contracts.

The Buyer will be responsible driving profitable sales through the development of insight-led innovative and competitive assortments for Waitrose customers which deliver the category plan, in collaboration with key stakeholders. The successful candidate will own the commercial relationships between Waitrose and suppliers and be ambassadors of the Partnership values.

Job Requirements

- To develop and deliver customer-focused category strategies to achieve the agreed Buying Office plan. Use this to help shape the Buying Office/Business Unit plan, focusing on 1 - 3 year sustained performance.
- Through use of supplier data. Adapt plans to change to market conditions and different formats (e.g. ecomm, convenience).
- Ensuring effective communication of and engagement with strategy to key stakeholders.
- Consistently demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of relevant categories, target customers and the market dynamics, translating this knowledge into business opportunities.
- To manage assortment and range development, through selection and development of products which optimise sales and profitability, which are in line with Business objectives, working in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Manage and deliver customer facing assortments for all formats.
- Work in collaboration with Brand Development and Technical teams to ensure product quality is consistent.
