Duties & Responsibilities

We'll give you all the training you need to kick-start your career.

You'll gain the qualifications you need to do the job and the opportunity of securing a permanent Vehicle Body Repair Technician role with us at the end of your apprenticeship.

What will you learn as part of your apprenticeship?

Vehicle Repair Techniques - Including all aspects of vehicle body repair, how to fit and strip vehicle panels and components, how to repair damaged parts, how to weld various types of metal, use plastic padding and how to measure and realign vehicles using JIG systems
Using engineering tools and equipment - including hand and power tools, Steel and Aluminium MIG welders and hydraulic and electric pulling equipment.
Team work– including effective written and verbal communication skills, working as part of a team and taking ownership and responsibility when required

Job Requirements

This 2-year programme will equip you with the skills and knowledge to competently maintain our fleet of vehicles whilst achieving a Level 3 apprenticeship.

We are looking for 2 Apprentices to join our team based at Bracknell. You will join in a cohort starting in October 2019.

You will work alongside various skilled Partners. They will support you through the programme and help you put into practice what you learn.

Your Line Manager and your Apprentice Coach from the external Training company will be working with you and supporting you during your Apprenticeship.

From the beginning, you will start to work through various elements of your programme. This will include a mix of 'on-the-job' and 'off-the-job' training. You'll meet regularly with your Line Manager and Apprentice Coach to plan your learning.

During the 2 years of the Apprenticeship you will follow a college block release structure of a total of 6 weeks per year; this will be in 6 x 1 week each. During your college block release you will be required to travel to the S&B Automotive Academy in Bristol. S&B Automotive Academy are able to support with arranging 'home stay' accommodation during this week to help with travel.

You should consider your travel distance to the location you are applying for. Access to transport would be beneficial.

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

This role is subject to the following pre-employment screening for internal and external candidates.

Educational criteria checks are also required and these will be completed by our Apprenticeship Provider S&B Automotive Academy. Once you have completed your application form a Partner from our Resourcing Team will be in contact to advise on next steps.

GCSEs or equivalent, Functional Skills or Key Skills at grade C/Level 1 or above in English and Maths are required for this apprenticeship.

Required desirable experience skills and qualifications

This role would suit someone who is a team player, reliable, has good communication skills (written and verbal) and a positive, proactive approach to learning. You'll enjoy practical work, whilst demonstrating attention to detail in order to maintain high customer standards to deadlines.

Work experience/prior knowledge is beneficial but not essential.

An Assessment day for this position will be held on Tuesday 6th August
