My first few weeks on the Tech scheme

Hello world! We are now in our fourth week on the Technology Graduate Scheme and I thought I would tell you a bit about what we have been up to so far.
The journey started with a three day induction at The Odney Club, one of the five hotels owned by the John Lewis Partnership! We got to meet graduates from all the different schemes, as well as getting an inspirational talk from the Chairman himself, Sir Charlie Mayfield. He highlighted how investment in IT is going to be of huge importance as part of the It’s Your Business 2028 strategy, so it’s a great time to join!
The Technology scheme starts off with Grad Lab, in which we come up with an innovative idea and take it through the IT lifecycle, learning about all the different jobs and roles in the process. So far we have given birth to our idea with the innovation team, figured out the requirements with the business analysis practice, and mapped out a solution with the IT architecture team. In the next few weeks we will have to actually write some code, test it, and make sure it would be ready to send out into the real world! It’s not all been hard work though, as you can see in the picture below from an exercise using Lego!
We have also all been paired up with a buddy from last year’s grad scheme, which is great because they can help us with all the new stuff we are going through, as well as just being someone we can chat to about absolutely anything!
That’s it from me, but keep an eye out for an upcoming blog post about the application process. Remember that the grad scheme has no requirements on which degree you have, and applications are now open!
