Distribution is about getting the right stock, to the right place, at the right time. In a company the size of ours it’s no mean feat, but join our distribution operation and you’ll be helping to put the smiles on our customers’ faces all over the country.
The backbone to our distribution network is our warehouses. We have seven warehouses across the country, and they’re vast (not to mention a number of Customer Delivery Hubs too). These warehouses ensure that every one of our stores gets the products they need, as well as delivering direct to our customers.
Our semi-automated warehouse at the Magna Park Campus near Milton Keynes has recently expanded and now occupies over 1 million square feet. From here we’re delivering to our customers, as well as our stores, sending out smaller items from our vast array of brands.
At Magna Park, we have a state-of-the-art semi-automated warehouse operation that services our market leading retail business and online customers with household, fashion and electronic goods. We have a wide variety of roles and job tasks available to suit all applicants from packing fine china for a customer online order, to loading vehicles.
We’re looking for applicants interested in working for the John Lewis Partnership and being part of a world class team of Partners. The roles include full and part time hours, working across 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There can be flexibility around working hours and pay will depend on performance and experience.
To give you an idea of the jobs on offer within all our warehouses, we’ve set out a brief overview below.
Warehouse Assistants: Receiving and storing products, picking individual branch orders, loading goods onto trailers using mechanical handling equipment such as forklift trucks and making sure the right products go to the right stores.
Managers: Overseeing a specific area of the warehouse and looking after operations, logistics and people.
Support roles: Liaising with our Buyers and placing orders with suppliers so that our warehouses have enough stock to meet branch needs.
Planners: Looking at how we can develop our distribution operation and making sure we have everything in place for new branch openings and special projects.
Vehicle Technicians and Maintenance Teams: Maintaining and repairing our vehicles and sites.
That’s not all that’s on offer though, we also have a small team that monitors and supports the distribution operations we contract out to companies with other specialist facilities. There are Administrators who help to keep things running smoothly, logistic specialists and much much more.
