Summer Schemes

Our Summer Placements last six to eight weeks and offer the opportunity to develop skills in the workplace.

You’ll gain a valuable insight into retail management in a department store – taking an overall view of trading and seeing how different retail management is from your perceptions as a customer. You’ll have exposure to different presentation, stock control and selling techniques applicable to a wide range of products. There will also be the opportunity to meet and talk to senior branch management, and a project on a commercial aspect of the business will be set.

To gain a place on the Summer Placement Scheme you will need to complete an on-line application.  If you are successful at this stage you will be invited to an assessment centre.

Placements are open to penultimate-year students with an interest in retail management and, possibly, previous retail experience. You should have good written and verbal communication skills, both to work with senior management, colleagues and customers and to give a presentation on your project.
